The Nationalist Party has become a journalist’s and blogger’s dream. Every ten or so minutes, a new PN PiPi sewage leak oozes out and replaces the previous one. It’s simply non-stop.
It has been a fruitful nine days, packed with mirth, comedy and an electoral breakdown that must go down as the greatest in electoral history.
The past weekend has been particularly fruitful.
The Big Boss, Dr Adrian Delia, publicly informed Dr Jason Azzopardi that from now on he is ignoring him and that unless he has something useful to say, he should shut his big mouth, put a sock in it, and say nothing.
In almost the same breath, Delia told Dr Beppe’ Fenech Adami to put his foot in his mouth and stop continually fanning hate.
Earlier, Dr Frank Portelli and David Thake were on the point of exchanging blows during ‘Xarabank’ and Robert Arrigo followed up by telling Dr Kristy Debono to “shut up”.
Meanwhile, Dr Chris Said informed the world that Gozitans are “disgusted” by the goings-on of the PN Executive Committee and that he is “considering his next step”.
What a Carry-on ... even the famous Carry-on films have been eclipsed by this unrelenting comedy. Never have so few had so many rolling in the aisles with laughter.
However, that is the mere tip of the iceberg, an iceberg that instead of melting continues to solidify and grow larger and larger.
We woke up this morning to be regaled by fresh accusation charges of gerrymandering, manipulation, misappropriate carry-ons and accusations of skulduggery – and that the voting process during the PN’s Executive’s vote to replace outgoing PN MP David Stellini had been “rigged” to favour Jean Pierre Debono as Stellini’s replacement.
The whole process was therefore suspended and frozen in the growing iceberg.
Yep, Jean Pierre Debono had been marched to the top of the hill and just as quickly marched down again!
Indeed, the PN should now consider changing its anthem and I suggest they adopt the following:
“Oh, the Grand Old Duke of York, he had 10,000 men; he marched them up to the top of the hill and he marched them down again”.
