Vast majority of Maltese electorate hand-delivers message to Busuttil, Casa, Metsola, Gomes, Giegold

How does one even begin to describe what has happened over the last eight days?

A tsunami; an earthquake; a volcanic eruption; a hurricane; a wipe-out; a holocaust; a disaster; a debacle; a catastrophe; an avalanche; a landslide ...?

All of these put together do not even begin to describe the massacre that swept the Nationalist Party from the very top to the very bottom over the last seven days.

And, as if this were not enough, it appears more than likely that much more of the same is to follow.

How may I convey this? Picture the situation:-

In 2013, the Manager of a football club puts out a team for a match which they lose 10-0. The club decides the remedy is to change the Manager. A new one comes in but follows the same tactics and in 2017 they put out a team and this time it loses 12-0! Again, the remedy is to change the Manager. A new one comes in with lots of promises about new ways and new tactics, eventually falls into the same mould and for the match in 2019 suffers a colossal 15-0 defeat!

Even worse, the supporters begin to dwindle and dwindle and become more and more critical. Does that lead to some sort of change? No, it does not. In 2019, despite all the previous debacles they select their star players to be David Casa and Roberta Metsola, the pair that have contributed among the MOST to bring on these embarrassing debacles!

Does that point to irrational insanity – a hara-kiri wish to bring about total destruction?

Further afield, Casa and Metsola rope in total deadbeats like Ana Gomes, Sven Giegold and Pieter Omtzigt to help fuel their destruction – and the total holocaust goes on and on and on.

Well, over the last eight days all this motley crowd have been given a strong hand-delivered message by a vast majority of Malta’s still sane electorate – a strong finger message.

The beauty of it all is that much of this is the handiwork of the late Daphne Caruana Galizia and her toy poodle Simon Busuttil.

The greater beauty is that now, at the end of the day, the can of responsibility has to be carried by Adrian Delia, Pierre Portelli, Clyde Puli and David Agius.

What a bloody, bloodied mess.

How can a few have been allowed by so many to virtually bring about the total destruction of the Nationalist Party?

It really is beyond belief.
