It is with deep regrets that I have to totally contradict Magistrate Depasquale. Not only do liars NOT face punishment, they are in fact heaped with honours and gain awards.
For example, the President of no less an institution than the European Parliament in Strasbourg – Antonio Tajani - does not only agree with and accepts lies he, in fact, heaps and honours liars with honours and awards, names halls in the EU Parliament after them and unveils portraits of them to be stuck on Parliamentary walls.
Malta’s Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna heaps on laudatory praises and handfuls of enthusiasts take to the streets parading pictures and slogans, bear flowers, light candles and call for a national monument to be built to perpetually commemorate lies and liars.
Now, a hat-trick of lies has been accomplished.
As if the Egrant lie was not sufficiently enough, a lie based on false documents and forged signatures, in recent days this has been followed up by a total lie by the so-called “Daphne Project” in which a person has now admitted having lied when he claimed he had seen Minister Chris Cardona talking in the same bar with one of three persons currently being charged with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
The hat-trick was accomplished yesterday when the Court found that an article based on a Blog by Caruana Galizia was a total lie of false allegations against Keith Schembri, Malcolm Scerri, Brian Tonna and Karl Cini in connection with the so-called Panama Papers.
The basis was a mistaken HSBC report and even though Pierre Portelli was clearly informed that Caruana Galizia’s Blog had been based on an administrative error by the bank which rendered the Blog null and void, Portelli decided to publish the article anyway in The Malta Independent on Sunday – despite knowing it was false!
Caruana Galizia even though subsequently informed of the error did not retract the Blog.
Portelli now heads the PN news network at the Pieta’ Dar Centrali, the PN HQ and is known to be one of Adrian Delia’s greatest props, an Adrian Delia who has appointed himself as the Spokesperson responsible for Good Governance!
And there we have it. The more you lie, the more you invent, the more you abuse the freedom of expression to damage people and to try and gain political advantage, the more you are heaped with honours and recognition with the blessings of the EU Parliament and Malta’s Archbishop.
