THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS – “una donna cieca” and a Vlogger with words of “wisdom”

It’s been quite an astonishing week in which I had to rub my eyes and pinch myself no less than THREE times to make sure I am awake and NOT dreaming.

The first jolt came from Dr Adrian Delia and his media conference to try and defend Dr Mario DeMarco when a day earlier our best Minister for Finance ever, Professor Edward Scicluna, had revealed that Dr DeMarco was hunting foxes with the hounds but at the same time in the Society for the Protection of Foxes.

This came about when Profs Scicluna revealed that while in a committee to suggest national procedures to curb money laundering, Dr DeMarco was simultaneously Legal Advisor to an Italian gaming company alleged to be money laundering.

Nothing wrong in that explained Dr Delia. One was the role of a Parliamentarian and the other of a professional lawyer!

Great stuff; it was like standing up in Court to inform the Judge that “although I am representing the accused, I am also acting for the Prosecution”.

Astonishing!

The second jolt came from Ms Susanna Ceccardi (pictured), apparently an Italian lady Mayor from Tuscany from the Lega Nord political party who was in Malta to learn the English Language – so she said.

She said, "Walking around this island's streets, you won't see a single migrant. I've been here one day now and people I spoke to tell me you won't see any migrants, simply because Europe has emptied the barrel of migration onto Italy."

Well, well – so there are no immigrants in Malta because they are nowhere to be seen. She must be spending her time locked in a room with only four blank walls to stare at – hopefully not sanatorium padded walls!

The Italian phrase for “a blind woman” is “una donna cieca” and I guess her surname Ceccardi is a near-enough equivalent.

To top it all we were then regaled by somebody who is apparently a Vlogger (a person who Blogs by video) named Nas Daily (also pictured) who spent some time in Malta a few weeks back.

Apparently this guy has become a millionaire by going around the world prancing about and singing in front of swooning and screaming teenage girls, filming all and posting on his Blog….making money from his “hits”….said to be a millionaire by now.

Now this Nas Daily is of Jewish origin from Israel and seems to have taken the role of a reincarnated Jesus Christ dispensing wisdom, love and charity.

Assuming he made pots of money while in Malta, he went away and sent us his wise advice in a Vlog which maintained that our Mosta church should be sold off – as with all other churches – and the money given to the poor.

So Mr Daily, this is your solution for solving Malta’s and the world’s poverty problems? Nothing could be more trite or more ridiculous. Are you by any chance in league with the Islamic extremists ISIS who go around smashing up humanity’s heritage?

Let me give you some words of wisdom from a real wise man, our own late Duminku Mintoff who once quoted a Chinese proverb which said “If you want to feed a poor Chinese fisherman and his family don’t just give him a fish – teach him how to fish”.

Understand the logic of that Mr Daily? Killing off the rich and stealing their money and selling off churches and palaces will not solve anything except to destroy art, beauty and cultural heritage.

The solution is to do what our Government is doing – providing job opportunities and job mobility with virtual total employment in the country, providing training opportunities, increasing social aid, updating education and medical treatments and having a President and a wife of the Prime Minister as we have at present, dedicated to charity and working for total equality.

Thankfully, we are embarking on a new week of adventures and hopefully we will not have any more patronising geeks like Ana Gomes, Sven Giegold, Susanna Ceccardi and Nas Daily – people who think that because we are small we can be pushed around and bullied.

As it is, we have our own traitors and Fifth Columnists to contend with.
