HOW TO WASTE 24 HOURS OF YOUR LIFE – going round in circles, doing nothing and achieving nothing

In the latter part of the 1960s I started my career in sports journalism with “The Times of Malta” and its Sunday sister newspaper as well as the Maltese language “Berqa”. They were of course anti-progressive, anti-Labour and particularly anti-Mintoff.
However - unlike today - they had a level of decency and professionalism with some excellent journalists like Johnny Mizzi, Wilfrid Axiaq, Tony Montenaro, Freddie Barry, Guze’ Diacono, Joe Scicluna (all sadly passed on) and a number of others, and of course a photographer par excellence in Frankie Attard.
For the Sports Section we had a contributor, one Joe Griffiths, a famous former amateur footballer with the famous Melita team of the past, a former National Coach and an excellent general football coach and tactician. Weekly he wrote a page called “Goalshots” and one of his main features was an item “EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY” in which he detailed famous moments in past matches.
This is my beginning today. Look at the above picture and interpret the story it tells. The team from left to right is Sven Giegold, Ana Gomes and David Casa, three Euro MPS.
Giegold has been described by the prestige US publication “Fortune” as being “annoying, a busybody and a pest”. Earlier this year in the Euro Parliament Gomes was charged with being a “blatant racist” after making highly disparaging comments about Europe’s Jewish communities, and Casa we of course all know, a treacherous traitor of his own country, a Fifth Columnist and a defender of alleged criminals like Maria Efimova.
The looks on their faces tell it all, faces that seem to betray people suffering severe intestinal constipation at the bottom end but suffering from a vile vomatile and diarrheic verbal condition at the top end.
Desperation shows in their faces, highly accentuated by David Casa about whom it would be no surprise to know that in a fit of schizoid and paranoid conflict of conscience he woke up one morning and hanged himself.
Psychiatrists will testify that spies and traitors often undergo such fatality at enigmatic moments.
This disparate and desperate trio of MEPs – the three largely discredited in their own countries for various reasons – breezed into Malta on a 24-hour visit to “investigate” (an alternative word would be “interfere”) matters they “investigated” in a previous visit and found nothing, proved nothing and whose only impact was to try and inflict maximum damage on Malta’s reputation.
No doubt yesterday’s visit was also instigated by Casa to continue his treachery against his own country. The man has no shame and the word “decency” is not to be found in his dictionary.
Who paid for this trip and who has been paying for Casa’s gallivants to Greece to defend an alleged criminal in two countries but specifically to prevent the alleged criminal being sent to Malta to face justice?
So yesterday they went round and round in circles, re-invented the wheel, trod the same old path, met many of the same people again and – like last time – ended up with nothing but allegations and speculations.
What a waste of 24 hours in one’s life.
The Spanish author Cervantes invented Don Quixote who attacked imaginary windmills riding on a mule – in this case the mule is quite obviously David Casa!
Hey ho – Don Quixote is alive and well – and so is the mule.
One piece of parting advice to Giegold and Gomes – piss off and don’t come back...ever.
