THE WORLD OF ADRIAN DELIA – dust down your “Ghonella” and bring out your cork sandals and flannel ve

When Duminku Mintoff in the mid-70s casually suggested Malta could establish a commercial trade by processing and marketing carob syrup and pickled capers, “In-Nazzjon Taghna” roared with mirth and charged him with wanting to drag Malta back into the annals of history and ran the above front page headline.

Mind you, such mirth was infiltrated with accusations of Mintoff taking Malta into Communism, into making it into a totally secular society and other alarming falsities to continue encouraging the retarded conservative elements and the Church against him. In fact Mintoff was valiantly dragging Malta into the then 20th Century and shaking off cobwebs and shackles propagated by the Church over centuries.

Now Adrian Delia has taken the track pretending to go forward when in fact he is being totally retrogressive. When he first mounted the political platform it was with promises of a “new way”.

So far, this “new way” has consisted of totally false pronouncements that people are not even secure in their own homes, that you need to have at least three jobs to afford a pizza and that proposed IVF Amendments are in fact Amendments to kill embryos and pave the way for abortion.

Now, he has come out with an outburst of xenophobic magnitude that Malta is “losing” its identity by mixing with too many foreigners.

This from a man whose surname Delia is not even Maltese, whose wife is a de Fremeaux and who is surrounded by people with surnames like Casa, Pulè’, Metsola Tedesco Tricas, de Marco, Sullivan, Thake, Briguglio etc – all very solid Maltese surnames of course!

So, while his so-called colleagues Busuttil, Casa and Azzopardi are carving trenches into the Court’s steps traipsing up and down to open Court cases and dragging truck-trailer loads of meaningless documents but in fact merely wasting Court time and loading already-loaded Magistrates with meaningless drivel, their so-called “Leader” Delia is playing the policy of fear.

Xenophobic claptrap is his latest card trick when a cursory look through a Maltese Telephone Directory will reveal every kind of surname from under the sun and from all over the world because Malta has been a central sea port and a colony for several thousand years.

As for Malta becoming secular, there is no need for anybody to do anything about that because elements in the Church are doing that by themselves. The trend of alienating the faithful was started by Archbishop Mikiel Gonzi back in the ‘50s and the mantle has now been inherited by Archbishop Charles Scicluna aided by despicable priests like Father Joe Borg and compounded by heretical idiots like Edwin Vassallo pronouncing Daphne Caruana Galizia to be Malta’s modern-day Our Lady of Sorrows.

The Church needs no destructors when it has enemies like Scicluna, Borg and Vassallo.

As for our “new way” man Delia, he is busily working his way back to the past in his concept that we remain “pure Maltese” in a world that is changing by the second.

He will soon be telling us to dust down our “Ghonellas” and to bring out our cork sandals and flannel vests for a journey back to the past and to the days of Wenzu and Rozi!
