ADRAIN DELIA LEADS THE ATTACK CHARGE – right into total oblivion

The PN – foundations crumbling by the minute

------------------------- --------------------------

Politicians are normally choosy, coy and selective, and before pronouncing, figure out a possible rebound so as to make sure it has no rebound and expose vulnerability to risk one being classed as a person who simply does not know what one is talking about.

Adrian Delia is obviously no politician – as he himself has admitted. To give him some benefit, he is new at the game but even more disconcerting, he is proving to be inept, naïve and completely out of his class as he flounders from one statement to the other.

He cannot be compared to Simon Busuttil who was not naïve but was obstinately stupid in thinking that in the current era people will believe anything because he said it or because Daphne Caruana Galizia wrote it.

Perhaps Delia’s greatest error has been his initial contention that as from henceforth the PN is to adopt a “new way” of approaching politics which many thought would mean a new and more positive and realistic approach to constructive criticism as befits any serious Opposition party.

In actuality, he has taken the opposite road. Not only is his approach not a “new way”, it is in fact a throwback to ways and methods that were politically popular 40 and 50 years ago.

His threats to “fight to the end”, “resist”, “lead people to take to the streets” – all couched in hysterical tones accompanied by fist-shaking and foot-stomping may sound macho and brave but are in fact empty and hollow words that people find amusing but have no purpose. This is the diametric OPPOSITE of what people want and expect today because today they want facts, constructive reasoning and intelligent approaches that will lead them to making their own conclusions.

His other complete throwback is a slip back to values that today merit no consideration whatsoever, attempting to aspire to values that PN supporters expected 50 and 60 years ago – as they were then lead to believe and which they accepted yet which are completely irrelevant today. Maybe that is why he enjoys his greatest support and popularity among the 70+ sector of the electorate because that is what they were weaned on.

Speaking on Sunday he brought out abortion from the store cupboard and “challenged the Socialist Government” to “clarify” its position on abortion. He obviously does not know that “Socialist” today has virtually no meaning. It may have alarmed retarded mentalities all those years ago conjuring specters of totalitarianism and Hell engendered by the Church. Today it has zero relevance.

The PL stance on abortion has been stated ad nauseum since I was a little boy that under no circumstances will abortion ever be legislated.

ABOVE ALL, he has two great total failures, the first being his constant efforts to quote facts that are the diametric opposite of the real facts. On Sunday he said figures show an increase of people affected by poverty. EU Commission figures revealed last week showed a DECREASE of people on the poverty level over the last five years. In previous weeks he has denied the surplus, denied economic improvement, stated “the Socialist Government” has never “done anything” for education – while trudging up and down Court stairs to initiate legal investigations into this and that.

The second is his total failure to control his own Party’s frontbenchers where people who are ready to replace him at the drop of a hat are spouting out all sorts of ridiculous statements to try and gain attention.

Simon Busuttil brought the PN down on its knees and ensured its total disintegration. Delia is propelling its total dismemberment with a headlong charge into total oblivion.
