DOES THIS MAN REALLY HAVE A BRAIN – or is it stuck in Lah, Lah, Land?

Adrian Delia delivered his customary Sunday sermon yesterday and again left me wondering whether the man is actually all there – mentally.
He emphasised three main points yesterday (a) this is an “illegitimate Government” because some kind of manipulation entitled some people a vote which they should not have had during the last General Election (b) a Socialist Government has “never done anything” for education and (c) PM Joe Muscat is “not doing anything” for national security, particularly in schools.
This makes it difficult to know where to start, but I will try.
So, a 40,000 majority last year was the result of “illegitimate votes” that people were not entitled to? Goodness me - there must have been some manipulation! Is this believable, particularly when yesterday’s Malta Today published statistics that when interpreted show that if an Election were to be held today, the majority would be 90,000?
On the very day after the Government announced that €24 million annually is to be spent in providing free and attended school transport, including for Kindergarten children, this and other Labour Governments have “never done anything for education”. Never mind that free education for all was a Labour measurement (opposed by the PN), trade and technical schools were introduced by Labour and when the late Agatha Barbara was Education Minister she revolutionised the whole education system and current Minister Evarist Bartolo is bringing it into the 21st Century.
Large swathes of the country are concerned about security, particularly in schools, mainly because last week a grandmother assaulted a headmistress at Vittoriosa. Now this is an incident that is commonly happening all over the world, every second of the day and has been happening since time immemorial and will continue happening.
What is he suggesting – that all schools be surrounded by squads of Police, as well as all areas, all “controversial” journalists, all churches etc? For this to happen we either have to have security cameras every 20 metres, and in addition we have to import several thousand Police persons.
Undoubtedly, whenever this man spouts something, he spouts total nonsense. The Washington White House and London’s Buckingham Palace are amongst the most heavily security guarded buildings in the world – yet occasionally, even their security is breached.
A few other points for Delia to keep very much in mind before he opens his mouth - in a week in which he again raved and ranted continually about the “Rule of Law” – the highly reputable Fitch Ratings international credit agency announced an A+ Classification for Malta and pronounced this is mainly due to the strict observance of … the Rule of Law!
Above all, one has to keep in mind he is totally ignoring the very Rule of Law by failing to pay his Income Tax, due over a number of years. These are estimated to be in the region of €80,000. HOWEVER, his debt is actually higher than that.
During the years of his party’s administration of the country, the National Debt continued to escalate and today currently stands at €6 billion, that is approximately €14,000 per head of every man, woman and child. Now, including him, his family numbers seven heads and therefore his family’s total National Debt runs to €98,000!
Added to the €80,000 he is said to owe – this means he owes the country no less than €178,000.
That should give him something to think about before he continues opening his mouth!
Wishing all a good day.
